About Us
What is Domestic Violence Assistance?
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that collects household items for domestic violence victims and their children. Once the victim leaves the violent home and starts
over in an abuse-free house, we give them the basic essentials for FREE in order to help them start over. We also attend any court hearings with the victim.
Why do we do this?
I started this organization because I am an 9 year SURVIVOR of domestic violence as well as my son, who was 4 at the time. We lived through the abuse for almost 4 years before
deciding to get out in February of 2003. I know how hard it is to start over when you have nothing but the clothes on your backs, as it was with us.
Most victims of domestic abuse find they have to leave immediately in order to protect themselves and their childen.
Consequently, they leave with just the clothes they’re wearing.
When they start a new, abuse-free life, they usually have nothing and no financial means to buy the simplest items.
We give them the chance to receive household items for free.
Children often leave behind their favorite toy, book or favorite article of clothing, so we give them toys and clothing.
By helping them this way they can focus on an abuse-free lifestyle and getting their life back in order.
Where do you get your items?
We take donations from community members and businesses.
How can I help?
You can help by donating items. We can pick up any furniture you have to donate that is in good condition.
You can also make a monetary donation by mailing an in-kind donation
which is tax deductible. We are a 501(c)(3) organization.
